Day 13 - Ps Craig Mellican

Hi Everyone,

I just want to read to you today from the book of James chapter five, verses 15 to 18, from the New King James Version says this;

“And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven, confess your trespasses to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months. And he prayed again, and heaven gave rain and the earth produced his fruit.”

I like that it is the effective, fervent prayer of the righteous that avails. We have been made righteous by the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross. So your prayer matters today. There's three things I want to draw out of this particular scripture. First of all, it's the prayer of faith. You know, when we pray today, let's not pray wishy washy, will He or won't He, kinds of answer prayers, but let's come boldly in faith to the throne of grace and pray expectantly, believing that God is hearing our prayer, and that He is bringing the answer. Because the reality is, that He is hearing our prayer and He is bringing an answer.

Number two, let's pray for healing for each other in the context of this passage. It was a prayer of prayer for sick people. So let's include some time today to pray for healing in the lives of people in our church family and people in our broader community. Specifically, let's pray for breakthrough healing for somebody that you know, personally. It's easy to find friends who will feel sorry for you when you're sick but let's be the friend today who refuses to accept the status quo, and who brings a faith atmosphere into situations where there doesn't seem like there's much hope. Let's pray for faith healing today, in Jesus name. Let's pray particularly for our Mumbai family, that God would bring COVID under control in Jesus name.

Third thing I want to pray for today is, let's pray for our city of Brisbane. Let's pray that there will be a rain of the presence of God in Brisbane that will result in springs, streams, rivers and floods of revival, flowing in our city, that will change the spiritual landscape in a good way for a long time to come.

God bless you, have a great day.

Ps Craig
